Command and Conquer Remastered gameplay retains 2D joy of original

Command and Conquer Remastered is the next re-release from EA's back catalog and though it would be easy to be jaded by EA's past performance in this game market, the first footage of the CnC remastering looks really good. It not only retains the art style and 2D look of the original, but uprates everything to be that much crisper, and cleaner. Higher resolutions give players a much grander view of the battlefield too, potentially changing the way it can be played for good.

Another clear change over the original, is the amount of space the interface takes up. While the classic build menu will be retained, EA has taken steps to reduce its on-screen footprint, giving CnC a much more modern look, whilst still retaining the feel of the original title it's based upon.

Frame rate has been improved as well, delivering a much smoother-looking experience for all the classic units and mechanics that are making a comeback. A selection of buildings, infantry, and vehicles were all showcased in this very quick teaser look at what EA has been working on.

Command and Conquer Remastered doesn't have a release date as of yet, but we expect it to debut sometime in 2020.
