Left 4 Dead 3 is a game that many would love Valve to make, but it may never come to pass. Reportedly it was in development until around 2017 where it was cancelled, but it's unclear now whether that was the case. A number of screenshots from a supposedly-in-development map have been leaked by Twitter user Tyler McVicker, who has a solid record of leaks that were proven true in the past.

Although he's teasing the leak and asking users to pay for his Patreon to gain early access to the video, we dug up some of the screenshots posted online. Check out the gallery above for a small selection, or this Imgur gallery for a more in-depth look.

The map was reportedly built using assets from the recreation of the famous CS:GO map, Dust II, and would see players running through an expansive Middle-Eastern setting. Presumably this would have meant that Left 4 Dead 3 was set somewhere other than the U.S. cities and rural settings of the original two Left 4 Dead games.

There are certainly some hallmarks of CS:Go within these screenshots, but what's most impressive to this writer is the size of the map. It looks set to have been the largest and most open of all Left 4 Dead maps, potentially leading to some enormous hordes for players to deal with.

Unfortunately, it looks like we'll never see this map or any others come to life, as many believe L4D3 was cancelled by Valve. It seems set to continue the curse of third games in Valve's series.

If you want a new zombie game fix, the recently released World War Z looks like a modern L4D game. It's nothing like the source material, but who cares when you can shoot a bunch of zombies?
