It's been a few years since someone tried to make Quidditch a thing outside of the Harry Potter novels and off the real-life pitches where people run around with broomsticks stuck between their legs. Broomstick League is the latest attempt and it's doing it without the Harry Potter license, so maybe it'll actually be decent.
Clearly inspired by Rocket League, but with lashings of Butter Beer, Broomstick League combines fanciful, magical, flying on broomsticks, with an intriguing ball control and scoring system for up to 4v4 matchups on fantastical pitches. It's Quidditch in all but name, and is looking to create another surprise esports hit, following in Psyonix's footsteps.
Developed by Blue Isle Studios, the team behind Valley, and Slenderman: The Arrival, Broomstick League is less of an ambitious project, but has the potential to be its most popular game yet. With multiplayer gameplay between 1v1 and all the way up to chaotic 4v4, it's trying to capture some of the Rocket League magic that propelled Psyonix to such heights before its Epic purchase.
It'll include customization options for wizards and witches, with various spells usable in-game to teleport or knock players away from the ball.
There's no release date for Broomstick League just yet, but it is set to undergo beta testing before its eventual debut.
