When armed British officers raided David Williams' house, the man couldn't help but believe they entered the wrong apartment. But he was wrong.
Earlier that night, David phoned the police to report some harassing phone calls. An officer was sent to his place to investigate, but as the officer approached David's window, he identified the silhouette of an armed gunman.
Backup was summoned quickly, the home was raided and David Williams was subdued before searching the location and discovering that the armed gunman was just a full size Lara Croft model. David Williams, 42, owns a computer shop and received the statue of the Tomb Raider heroine as a promotional item and decided to sell it on Ebay, so he took it home to photograph it.
" It would have been laughable if it hadn't been so terrifying. One of the police held a gun and yelled, 'Where's the weapon, where's the weapon?', David said. "I didn't have a clue what was going on, I assumed they'd got the wrong house. I couldn't believe it when I realised they'd mistaken a Lara Croft dummy for someone with a gun."
Instead of apologizing and leaving, the British police decided to arrest David Williams and charge him with a firearms offense. David was held for 13 hours before bailing out. Lara Croft's figure was confiscated as evidence and David is currently speaking to lawyers about possible wrongful arrest claims.
