Blood Bowl II beta went live this weekend with new trailer

Blood Bowl II is a game that's been in development for some time. The last version of the original game, Chaos Edition, was released back in 2012, so Cyanide has had plenty of time to developer its sequel. However, Blood Bowl II was pushed back from its Spring 2015 release date, then its summer date and now we're here in September and it's still not quite ready.

However it is coming in just over a week, so that means the beta is now available, letting prospective coaches brawl against each other online and against AI opponents for practice. Most of the stock teams are currently available, including Humans, Orcs, Skaven and Dwarves. That means that the pre-order races, Wood Elves and Lizardmen, as well as the other stock ones (Bretonnians, High Elves, Dark Elves and Chaos) won't be available until the full game's release on the 22nd.

However, any teams that are created and gain experience during the beta will continue when the final game is released.

To help celebrate the launch of the beta - which has so far been relatively well received - Cyanide also released a trailer for the Bretonnians, a new race it's added to the game based on community rules. It features bog standard peasant linemen, who begin with that oh so irritating wrestle skill, and Grail Knight blockers who are able to dominate on the field.

Blood Bowl II launches on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on September 22.
