Blizzard's Heroes of the Storm hits closed beta

While the MOBA space is arguably one of the most crowded PC gaming genres at the moment, Blizzard isn't above throwing its hat in the ring and has created Heroes of the Storm, a multiplayer arena brawler that's built around characters from Blizzard's various universes. It features the standard lane gameplay, with a few nifty additions and is free to play, just like all the others.

And it's now entering closed beta, so if you wanted to take part in the game's pre-released testing, sign yourself up for a chance to join in.

This update also brings with it a new champion, the WoW hero Thrall and a new arena. It's a desert map, with more of a Dominion style play (for you LoL players) allowing players to control a central command hub that unlocks powerful abilities for the team that takes it.

There's also plenty of new skins and minions which players can use to ferry items around. The game is also looking prettier than ever, easily outstripping its contemporaries in terms of visual clarity.

The question is, will it be able to capture enough market share to justify its development costs? Heroes of the Storm is coming to the table much later than other MOBAs out there.

What do you guys think?
