Asus new noise-cancelling mic uses AI to make it better

Asus has employed an artificial intelligence to help cancel out more background noise when you're gaming, making your mic clearer than ever. To showcase just how effective its solution is, it released a video showcasing its clever audio adjustment in a crowded expo hall, where the microphone with machine learning enabled, was able to eliminate almost all background noise dynamically, whilst also keeping the person using it perfectly clear.

The ROC Strix Go 2.4 is both a wired and wireless headset that works with mobile phones, games consoles, desktop PCs, or just about any other device. It folds up nicely into its carry case and is easy to transport. The sound quality is pretty solid too.

But the big selling point is the microphone, which leverages a hardware AI solution. Leveraging some 50 million conversations, the Asus ROG Strix Go is able to eliminate a tonne of background noise problems. If it works as well as Asus alleges in its promo video, it's rather impressive.

It's not perfect by any means, with the wearer constantly making the mic "pop," suggesting it could do with better shielding, or just to move the mic away from his mouth a little, but it is very impressive how much background noise it was able to eliminate.

The headset battery lasts an impressive 25 hours, and with 40mm neodymium drivers, it should sound pretty great too. It's on sale right now, but you'll have to pay for the privilege, as it's $160.
