Ark has over two million dinosaur tamers

If the popularity of the short live The Stomping Land showed us anything, it's that people really like hunting and taming dinosaurs in a tropical world, so it should be no surprise that Ark: Survival Evolved picked up exactly where it left out and has been extremely popular. In just a few months of Early Access, it's managed to sell a massive two million copies, making it one of the break out successes of the year.

This would be a triumph for developers of a AAA game with a large budget and team working on it, but it's even more than that for a small team working without the backing of a giant publisher. The game has only just been in development for a year at this point and it already looks stunning.

Along with the game world and its play styles, one of the big reasons that people keep buying and keep playing Ark, is because the developers are so frequent with their updates. New dinosaurs and ancient beasts are added on a regular basis, as well as bug fixes and strong communication with the community, which always helps a developer stay in the good graces of their player base.

Although the game is currently available as an Early Access title on Windows and Linux, an Xbox pre-release build will go on sale in early 2016. The game will officially release and hit v1.0 in June next year.
