Angry Half-Life fans are review bombing DotA 2 on Steam

Fans of Valve's original break out hit, Half-Life, have had mixed feelings over the recent unveiling of a supposed plot for Half-Life 3. While many were pleased to have at least some sort of written ending to the series, others were angry it was never made into a full game. To vent that frustration, a number of those fans took to Steam to voice their concerns. They didn't do it on forums though, they did it in reviews for Valve's free to play MOBA, DotA 2.

Although the overall reviews and most recent review scores still list DotA 2 as mostly and very positive respectively, a look at the review panel on the store page sees you faced with only negative thoughts on the game. Or rather, negative thoughts on Valve itself and praise for the missing Half-Life games that never were.

"Time Mr Newell, is it really that time again?" one reads.

"Goodbye Gordon," reads another.

Others posted whole segments of the Marc Laidlaw story, or quoted key parts of Gordon Freeman's speech. Even those who have thousands of hours of play in DotA 2 used the opportunity to attack the game and Valve's handling of it.

Some DotA 2 fans have been hitting back though, as PCGN shows. They've posted positive reviews in response, stating that Half-Life wasn't as good as the fans remember and that DotA 2 is the new king of Valve's hill.

Although this is a bit of harmless protesting, how do you feel about the whole Half-Life saga over the past decade?
