AMD has some new RDNA graphics cards coming just around the corner, bolstering the existing lineup of Navi cards like the 5700 and 5700 XT. They will be the 5500 XT and 5600 XT, with some suggestion that they will act as replacements for the aged RX 580 and Vega 56, two of AMD's best selling cards from the past couple of years.
AMD's Navi GPUs launched in July 2019 to much acclaim. There was a little pricing war with Nvidia for the mid-range, but ultimately the 5700 and 5700 XT settled down as excellent competitors for the RTX 2060 and 2070, even pushing up well against the new Super versions of both. But two cards don't make for much consumer choice, and AMD is set to address that just before the holidays with the 5500 XT. It will sport 4GB and 8GB of GDDR6 in two distinct configurations, with a 128-bit memory bus.
We don't yet know what its stream processor count will be, nor what its launch price will end up as, but we would assume that it will be a little faster than an RX 580, for somewhere south of $200.
Following it in January, according to Videocardz, is the 5600 XT. That will have an intriguing configuration of hardware, with just 6GB of GDDR6, we're told, but a 192-bit memory bus. That will give it a sizeable uptick in bandwidth over the 5500 XT, but not enough to challenge the much more capable RX 5700. Expect Vega 56 speeds out of that card, at around the $250 mark.
The previously detailed RX 5500, appears to be an OEM-only part, offering RX 570-like performance on a budget.
