That's it guys, the world we know it has ended - Amazon is in the gaming business. Not really of course, the world will continue as usual, but the online retail giant is certainly getting involved in development, as it's just bought out Double Helix, the company behind the Xbox One launch title exclusive, Killer Instinct.
What it will do with that developer, what it will have it working on and whether it has anything to do with the rumours that Amazon is working on its own games console, is up for conjecture, but we do know a few things for sure.
1: The upcoming release of Double Helix's Strider will continue as planned.
2: All future projects at the developer have been put on hold for now.
3: Microsoft has pledged to continue development of Killer Instinct content.
The third point in that list was confirmed by head of Microsoft Studios, Phil Spencer, who tweeted:
"Our internal KI team is still here and franchise is in good hands. We had a plan in place for this transition."
The company also released an official statement: "We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Double Helix and wish them success in their next endeavour. We want all of our loyal fans to know that the Killer Instinct team at Microsoft is not changing and that the franchise will remain with Microsoft Studios. We remain dedicated to delivering a great experience and plan to announce our new development partner soon. We're excited about the future of this popular franchise."
This shouldn't be too much of a worry for KI fans, as all that was planned for the game was the continued release of DLC content, but for fans of Double Helix, it could mean a big shake up.
