Alien Isolation works with the new Oculus Rift DK2

In-case you didn't find the new creeping death simulator, Alien: Isolation scary enough, then maybe you'd like to try it with all of the presence of virtual reality, using the relatively recently released, Oculus Rift DK2 virtual reality headset?

Creative Assembly previously demoed the game using the VR headset and it was said to be terrifying on a whole new level. Anyone that's played Dreadhalls in the Rift in a darkened, quiet room will be aware of how scary and potentially PTSD developing VR experiences can be, so I can only imagine how heart-thumpingly terrifying it would be to here the Xenomorph stalk you for real.

The fix to get this working isn't official, so it does take a bit of fiddling and getting positional tracking working can be particularly tricky, but apparently once you do, it's fantastic and horrifying.

Discovered by Redditors /u/popcorncrackle, /u/hagg87, and /u/Wookiee81, the steps you need to take to get it working were posted over on NeoGAF:

1) in ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML (found in the DATA folder) change the stereo options to:

2) Set the Oculus to extended mode.

3) In the oculus configuration utility pause the service.

4) Start the game.

5) To play the game normally, reactivate the service by opening the display mode and set it to "direct to rift" and viola.

I have a DK2 handy, but I don't know if I can try this. I find Alien Isolation scary enough as it is. Are any of you guys brave enough?
