$1 game challenges you to get 4,096 achievements

If you're an achievement hunter and like to 100 percent every game you play, you may have met your match in Running Through Russia. The $1 game launched on Steam this week and has a total of 4,096 achievements to unlock. It's a simple game with a simple premise - you run, collect vodka power ups and try to avoid bears. It's an endless runner, so the controls are as simple as hitting the jump key as and when necessary and that's about it.

While the game itself is basic and unlikely to offer much fun, with its $1 price tag and mass of achievements, it's garnered quite a bit of attention and has amassed more than 250 reviews on Steam at the time of writing. They are a bit of a mixed bag, with some people saying that for the price it offers good value for money even if it entertains you for a few minutes, while others claim that it's a waste of time and that it ultimately just becomes a game where you click once every few seconds and earn achievements.

Although there are 4,000+ of them, earning them doesn't take very long. You'll get 30 just for starting the game and many more within the first hour of play. A recent update has introduced new achievements which expanded the game beyond its initial 4,000 or so and some of those take a little longer, but if you can play this for an hour just for achievements, you'll probably not have much difficulty playing it for a little longer.

Ultimately this will likely be a game for the achievement hunters alone, but if you want a quick laugh over bears and vodka, Running Through Russia isn't entirely devoid of entertainment.
